Antovoni Voted MVP, Bears Collect 10 All-DAC Honors

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer's Gianna Antovoni was voted the Dallas Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player, while Brianna Flores was selected as the Goalkeeper of the Year.
Amiah Brown was chosen as Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Alex Denning was named DAC Coach of the Year.
Kate Carlson and Natalia Banda joined Antovoni, Flores and Brown as First Team All-DAC recipients. Mariah Lewis earned Second Team All-DAC honors.
A freshman forward from McKinney, Texas, Antovoni has eight goals and nine assists for 25 points entering next week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Tournament in Batavia, New York. She scored a season-high two goals in a win over Dallas College Eastfield, and had a season-best four points with a goal and two assists in a win at Dallas College Mountain View. She has one gamewinning goal.
A freshman, also from McKinney, Flores (11-2-3) has a 0.56 goals against average, .866 save percentage and 10 shutouts. Her 10 shutouts are tied for the most in the country. She's posted seven consecutive shutouts entering the national tournament. Flores made a season-high 11 saves in the season opener against Holmes Community College. She stopped eight shots in the win over Dallas College Richland to clinch the conference regular season title.
A freshman defender from Mansfield, Texas, Brown played a key role in the Bears' 10 shutouts this season. She also scored a goal in a win over Dallas College Cedar Valley.
A freshman midfielder from Lucas, Texas, Carlson has five goals, including two game winners, and 10 points. She scored twice, picking up her second game winner, in a 4-0 win over Eastfield in the NJCAA Division III South District quarterfinals. She also had the gamewinning goal in a 5-1 win over Eastfield in the regular season.
A freshman defender from Anna, Texas, Banda also played a big role in the 10 clean sheets. She's scored two goals, while assisting on five others for nine points. She recorded a goal and an assist in regular season wins over Eastfield and Dallas College North Lake. Banda had an assist in the South District championship win over Richland.
A freshman defender from Fort Worth, Brown also was a big component in the Bears' 10 shutouts this season. She has three goals, including the game winner in a shutout win over Cisco College, and four assists for 10 points. Brown had a goal and an assist in the win over Cisco for a season-high three points.
In his first year at Brookhaven, Denning guided the Bears to the DAC regular season and South District championships, while holding the No. 2 national ranking for most of the season. Brookhaven has won its past seven games – all by shutouts.
The Bears (11-2-3) play Ocean County College (10-3-1) in the NJCAA Division III quarterfinals 3 p.m. CT Wednesday. The NJCAA Network will air that match. Live Stats are also available.
