Bio
Alex Denning was hired as Dallas College Brookhaven women's head soccer coach on June 10, 2024.
Denning took over the Bears program following 12 years as NCAA Division II Lubbock Christian University’s coach. He put together a 108-73-26 career record with the Chaps. In 17 years of college coaching, Denning has an overall record of 144-109-33 through the 2024 season.
In his first year at Brookhaven in 2024, Denning guided the Bears to a third place finish at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III national tournament. The Bears went 13-3-3 overall, 7-0-3 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Brookhaven won the DAC and NJCAA Division III South District championships. The Bears posted 10 shutouts. Forward Gianna Antovoni and goalkeeper Brianna Flores were named First Team All-Americans, while midfielder Kate Carlson was a Second Team All-American.
Denning’s 2019 LCU team set a program record for victories when the Chaps went 13-5-2, advancing to the second round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament. His 2014 team went 11-6 with a second round appearance in the Heartland Conference. That was the third straight year the Chaps secured double-digit victories, beginning with the 2012 team’s 12-5-2 finish at the NAIA level in his first year with the program.
Prior to Lubbock Christian, Denning spent four years as the women’s and men’s coach at Ouachita Baptist University. His women’s teams went 23-33-4, while the men’s program produced a 24-29-4 record under his watch. He guided OBU’s women’s team to the 2011 Great American Conference championship match. The women’s team raised its grade point average from 2.8 to 3.69, which ranked third highest in the country. On the men’s side, Denning was named the Gulf South Conference Coach of the Year in 2010, following an 11-6 record. The Tigers raised the team GPA from 2.34 to 3.45 under Denning.
Denning graduated from Ouchita Baptist in 2008.
