DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven volleyball's Caroline Simpson and McKenzie Mitchell earned First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors.
Teammate Lyrick Bridges was a Second Team All-DAC selection.
A sophomore hitter from The Woodlands, Texas, Simpson led the Bears in kills (260), kills per set (2.57) and digs (339), and had 33 aces and 20 blocks. She had 15 kills in three matches – all wins for Brookhaven. Her second 15-kill performance came during a stretch in which she had double-digit kills in four consecutive matches. Simpson had 21 digs in two matches and a career-high six aces in a five-set win over Rose State College. She had five aces in a sweep of Dallas College Cedar Valley.
Mitchell, a freshman outside hitter from Plano, Texas, had 249 kills, 310 digs, a team-best 34 aces and 17 blocks, and averaged 2.54 kills per set. She pounded a season-high 24 kills, and hit .550 in a five-set win at Seminole State College. Mitchell had 15 kills in a four-set win at Dallas College Richland. She had a season-high 23 digs in a five-set match at Richland, and recorded a season-best four aces in a four-set match against North Platte Community College. She had double-digit digs in six straight matches.
A freshman middle blocker from Dallas, Bridges led the Bears in blocks with 77, including 15 solos, and had 175 kills, 23 aces and 75 digs. She had a season-best eight blocks, and hit .429 against Dallas College Eastfield. She had six blocks in a five-set win over Western Texas College, while recording five in four other matches. Bridges banged down a season-high 16 kills in the win over Rose State. She had season highs of six aces and 12 digs in the win at Richland.
