No. 4 Brookhaven Remains Unbeaten in League

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven's volleyball team beat Dallas College Richland, 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, Monday in a Dallas Athletic Conference match.

Brookhaven, which is ranked No. 4 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, recorded 54 kills. Richland had 45.

The Bears (12-8, 3-0 DAC) won their seventh straight match. The Thunderducks fell to 11-13 overall, 1-2 in the conference.

Richland hit .263 in the first set and .250 in the second. The Thunderducks had 13 kills in the opening set. 

Brookhaven's Caroline Simpson matched her season high with 15 kills, added 18 digs, three aces and a block, and hit .286. McKenzie Mitchell had 15 kills, 15 digs and a block. Lyrick Bridges finished with a season-high six aces and 12 digs, and had eight kills and two blocks, including a solo. Sarah Parr had six kills and two blocks, and Mary Amick five kills and a season-best four blocks, including one solo. Brooke Tyler had 15 assists, 14 digs, three kills and an ace. Mia Gonzalez had 13 kills and nine digs. Emma Borders had nine assists and six digs.

Richland's Jersey Glass had 13 kills, nine digs and four blocks, including three solos, while hitting .278. Audrey Burleson had 11 kills and a block. Aubree Burleson had seven kills and four solo blocks. Kara Washington had five kills, 21 digs and an ace. Jordan Connolly had five kills and a solo block. Parker Kimball finished with 23 assists, 10 digs and two aces. Isabella Foutz had 18 assists and eight digs. Myra Memon had 12 digs.

Brookhaven hosts Dallas College North Lake (12-12, 2-1) at 6 p.m. Thursday.
