Brookhaven Sweeps Mountain View in DAC Opener

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven's volleyball team swept host Dallas College Mountain View, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22, to begin Dallas Athletic Conference play Monday.
It marked the Bears' fifth straight win and their fourth sweep of the season. Ranked sixth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll, Brookhaven (10-8, 1-0 DAC) improved to 3-0 in road matches.
The Bears hit .250. The Lions were held to a .053 attack percentage. Mountain View (4-15, 0-1) had 10 kills in the first set.
Brookhaven's Lyrick Bridges had 12 kills, nine digs, two aces and a block, while hitting a season-high .524. Caroline Simpson finished with 10 kills, two aces, eight digs and a block, and hit .250. It was the fourth straight match Simpson has had double-digit kills. McKenzie Mitchell had eight kills, seven digs and an ace. Sarah Parr had six kills. Emma Borders had 25 assists and two aces. Mia Gonzalez had 10 assists and an ace. Fiona Larsen had seven digs.
Mountain View's Sydnei Pena had seven kills, 13 digs and an ace. Kendricia Johnson had five kills and a solo block. Tailor Perkins had four kills, and Nyah Bumpas three kills and a solo block. Jade McCafferty had 11 assists and two aces. Skylar Daniels finished with 17 digs.
Brookhaven hosts Dallas College Cedar Valley (2-12, 0-1) in the first home conference match 6 p.m. Thursday.
