FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's volleyball team rallied from two sets down to beat Rose State College Saturday. The Bears prevailed, 18-25, 22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 15-6.
It was the second win of the week for Brookhaven.
The Bears (7-8) held the Raiders (1-7) to under 10 kills in each of the last three sets. Rose State hit .024 in the third set, and .000 in the fourth, helping Brookhaven to pull even in the match.
Brookhaven's Lyrick Bridges had a season-high 16 kills and five blocks, while hitting .286. Caroline Simpson had 14 kills, 13 digs and a career-best six aces. Lauren Howson put away a career-high 12 kills, and had a season-high four blocks. Holland Hickman had a season-high 11 kills, two blocks and an ace, and hit .360. It was the second match in a row she had a .348 attack percentage or better.
Mia Gonzalez had 17 assists, 13 digs and two of the Bears' 11 aces. Emma Borders had 11 assists, eight digs and an ace. McKenzie Mitchell finished with seven kills, 14 digs, a block and an ace.
Rose State's Emery Hulme finished with 18 kills, 13 digs and a block. Mikayla Eagle had 11 kills, six blocks, including four solos, and had a .370 attack rate. Ashlyn Wilkens had 19 assists and 14 digs, and Aubree Rutledge 18 assists and 14 digs. Gracelyn Skaggs had 27 digs, and Rylee Hart 17.
Brookhaven will compete in Seminole State College's Tri-Match Friday.
