Bears Trio Earns First Team All-DAC, 3 Others Collect Awards

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven volleyball players Jordan Bruscato, Madison Beasley and Caroline Simpson earned First Team All-Dallas Athletic Conference honors.

Laila Beck and Trynity Hicks were second team choices, and Tabitha Westbrook was an honorable mention pick.

Bruscato, a sophomore setter from Dallas, had 558 assists, 81 aces, 68 kills and 19 block assists. In her two-year Bears career, she racked up 1,106 assists. Beasley, a sophomore outside hitter from Mexia, Texas, had 274 kills, 288 digs, 34 blocks and 14 aces. Simpson, a sophomore outside hitter from The Woodlands, Texas, had 155 kills, 246 digs, 13 blocks and 19 aces.

Beck, a sophomore middle blocker who transferred from Dallas College Cedar Valley, had 205 kills, 80 blocks, including 26 solos, 20 aces and 58 digs. In her two-year Dallas College career, the Dayton, Texas, native had 198 blocks. Hicks, a defensive specialist who hails from Arlington, Texas, had 390 digs, 24 aces and 44 assists. Westbrook, a middle blocker from Red Oak, Texas, had 87 kills and 59 blocks.

Brookhaven, who at 13-15 following an appearance in the South District semifinals, advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Tournament that begins Thursday.
