MESQUITE, Texas -- Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Dallas Athletic Conference play, following Friday's 2-0 win at Dallas College Eastfield.
The No. 2 nationally-ranked Bears (11-1-2, 9-0-0 DAC) secured the DAC regular season title after beating Dallas College Cedar Valley 3-1 earlier in the week, and will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III District Tournament Oct. 24-29.
Stephanie Lopez scored on a penalty kick in the 12th minute, and Megan Garcia added an insurance goal two minutes later as the Bears posted their ninth shutout. It was Brookhaven's seventh clean sheet in conference play. Isabella Hernandez assisted on Garcia's goal.
It was Garcia's fifth goal of the season, which is tied with five other players for most on the team. Lopez has two goals. Hernandez picked up her first point of the season.
Brookhaven goalkeepers Harlee Van Pelt and Miranda Estrada combined on the shutout.
The Bears had 20 shots, including nine on goal.
Brookhaven will conclude the regular season 6 p.m. Tuesday against Dallas College Mountain View (5-4-1, 4-4-1) on Sophomore Night.
