BATAVIA, N.Y. – Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team beat Ocean County College, 3-1, Wednesday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III quarterfinals.
The win sends the No. 2-ranked Bears (12-2-3) on to Friday's 5:30 p.m. CT semifinals against Mohawk Valley Community College (9-1-3). The NJCAA Network will broadcast the game. Live Stats are also available.
Gianna Antovoni, Gracie Murillo and Maradith Baker all scored unassisted goals for the Bears, who outshot Ocean County, 24-5.
Antovoni broke a scoreless draw 1:40 before halftime to put Brookhaven on the board first. It was her team-leading ninth goal of the season.
The Bears, who have won eight straight, outshot the Vikings, 12-1 in the first half.
Less than three minutes into the second half, Murillo gave Brookhaven a 2-0 lead as she took a defender to her right, cut back to the left inside the box, and booted the ball with her left foot into the upper left side of the net. It was Murillo's sixth goal of the season, and her second game winner.
Isabella Silva scored on assist from Arianna McMahon as Ocean County (10-4-1) cut the lead in half in the 77th minute.
But Baker responded with an insurance goal in the 85th minute to halt any comeback chances by the Vikings. She has four goals this year.
Brookhaven goalkeeper Brianna Flores (12-2-3) stopped two shots in the win. Vikings keeper Summer Lowry (3-1-0) made eight saves, including five in the second half.
The Bears have won the last three national championships, and have five titles in program history.
