Brookhaven Duo Sweeps DAC Player of Week Honors

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's Gianna Antovoni and Brianna Flores earned the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Players of the Week.

Antovoni was named the DAC Player of the Week, while Flores was tabbed the league's Goalkeeper of the Week. It is the second straight week Flores received the honor.

A freshman midfielder from McKinney, Texas, Antovoni had two goals and three assists last week as National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 2-ranked Brookhaven swept both of its opponents. She scored a goal, and had two assists in a win at Dallas College Mountain View. Three days later, she scored the gamewinning goal, and added an assist in a win over Dallas College Eastfield.

Antovoni leads the Bears with eight goals and seven assists this season.

A freshman keeper also from McKinney, Flores was in goal for all 180 minutes of the two shutouts. She was forced to make just one save in the two games, stopping a shot in the 3-0 win over Eastfield. She recorded her fourth straight shutout in the process.

Flores has eight wins and seven clean sheets this year, both of which rank second in the nation. Her 0.69 goals against average is seventh in the country.

Brookhaven (8-2-3, 6-0-3 DAC) will host No. 9 Dallas College Richland (8-2-2, 6-1-2) at 7 p.m. Tuesday for the DAC regular season title. The two teams tied in the first meeting this year.
