MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's second-ranked women's soccer team blanked Dallas College Eastfield, 3-0, Friday.
It was the seventh shutout of the season for the Bears, who improved to 8-2-3 overall, 6-0-3 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. Six of the seven clean sheets have come in conference play.
Brookhaven freshman goalkeeper Brianna Flores made one save in the shutout.
Gianna Antovoni scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 10th minute on assists from Daniela Porto and Alexis Saenz. It was Antovoni's first gamewinning goal this year.
Porto cashed in 15 minutes later when Brisa Hernandez and Antovoni returned the favor with assists. That made it 2-0. Hernandez added an insurance goal on a penalty kick in the 38th minute.
Porto, who put five of the Bears' 15 shots on goal, has two goals and five assists this year. Hernandez has three goals and six assists.
Unbeaten in their last nine games, the Bears host No. 9 Dallas College Richland (8-2-2, 6-1-2) in the final regular season game 7 p.m. Tuesday. The two teams tied in the first meeting. The winner will clinch the DAC regular season championship.
The NJCAA Division III South District Tournament is scheduled for Oct. 22-26 at the site of the DAC champion.
