No. 2 Bears Battle Thunderducks to 1-1 Draw

DALLAS – Second-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven battled host Dallas College Richland to a 1-1 tie Friday night as the first round of the Dallas Athletic Conference schedule culminated.

It was the third straight year the two teams have tied in the regular season. Brookhaven (4-2-3, 2-0-3 DAC) finished the first round of league play unbeaten. Richland (5-2-1, 3-1-1) is unbeaten in its past four games.

Gianna Antovoni scored in the 15th minute as the Bears took a 1-0 lead. Daniela Porto drew an assist on the goal.

Richland, which is receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, squared things up two minutes later, and that's where it stayed for the next 73 minutes until the final whistle blew.

Bears goalkeeper Brianna Flores stopped five of the six shots she faced.

Brookhaven hosts Dallas College North Lake (3-4-3, 1-2-2) at 7 p.m. Tuesday to begin the second round of conference play.
