Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team won its seventh straight game Tuesday – all by way of the shutout. The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III top-ranked women's soccer team blanked Dallas College Cedar Valley, 7-0, at home.
The Bears (9-0-1, 7-0-1 Dallas Athletic Conference) have not given up a goal since tying No. 4 Dallas College Richland, 1-1, on Sept. 16 in the first meeting between the league's two top teams.
Hayli Nichols and Cameron Watson combined on the shutout, each logging 45 minutes in Tuesday's win. It was the seventh straight match the Bears' pair combined on a shutout. Nichols made one save in the first half, while Watson did not face a shot.
Brookhaven outshot Cedar Valley, 31-1, with 11 of the Bears' shots on goal.
Kaley Robison scored the gamewinning goal in the 23rd minute on assists from Kenya Reynolds and Meleni Lorenzo, who finished with two goals and two assists.
Natalie Lopez had a goal and an assist, and Robison finished with two assists on top of her goal that gave the Bears the lead for good. Whitni Newbill, Alexa Bezpalko and Gissell Solis each scored a goal, while Bailey Clark, Allyson Kolba and Bezpalko each drew an assist.
The Bears peppered the Suns (3-10-1, 1-7-0) with 21 shots in the second half, and forced Cedar Valley goalkeepers Lawson McConnell and Eva Zamudio to make five saves apiece in opposite halves.
Brookhaven plays at Dallas College Mountain View 6 p.m. Friday. The Bears close the regular season next Tuesday at home against Dallas College Eastfield on Sophomore Night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
