Bears Finish Week with Another Shutout

Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team won a pair of games last week, outscoring two Dallas Athletic Conference opponents, 15-0. The Bears beat Dallas College Eastfield, 8-0, Friday in the final game of the first half of conference play.

Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team completed the week with an 8-0 shutout of Dallas College Eastfield Friday.

The Bears, ranked No. 1 in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III, scored a season-high eight goals, completing a week in which they outscored two opponents, 15-0.

Whitni Newbill notched a hat trick and an assist in a match that saw six different Bears find the back of the net. Gissell Solis scored the game winner in the fourth minute. Kaley Robison, Meah Perez, Alexa Bezpalko and Megan Perez also scored a goal. Isis Balderas assisted on the first and last goals. Meleni Lorenzo and Robison each had two assists. Sara Suggs and Kenya Reynolds also had an assist.

Brookhaven (6-0-1, 4-0-1 Dallas Athletic Conference) ripped off 17 shots in both halves, and totaled 16 on goal for the game. 

Hayli Nichols played the first half in goal, but did not need to make a save to pick up the win. Cameron Watson played the second half, but also did not see a shot. It was the fourth straight shutout for the Bears. 

The Bears will play at No. 4 Dallas College Richland (4-3-1, 4-0-1) at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a rematch of the conference-opening 1-1 tie in Farmers Branch, Texas. This will signal the start to the second half of conference play. The DAC Tournament is set for Oct. 26-29 at the site of the No. 1 seed.
