Brookhaven Knocks Off No. 8 Richland

DALLAS – Dallas College Brookhaven men's basketball team knocked off No. 8 Dallas College Richland, 65-57, Saturday in the opening game of the second round of Dallas Athletic Conference play.
The Bears (6-15, 3-3 DAC) remained in a tie for third place in the league, and handed the Thunderducks (13-7, 5-1) their first loss of the conference season.
Jeremy Roman was one of four players to score in double figures for the Bears, who sank 13 of 14 free throws for 93 percent. He had 15 on 6 of 12 shooting, and grabbed five rebounds, while blocking two shots.
Dylan Gonzales was 4-for-4 from the line for 12 points, and had four assists, four rebounds and a steal. Zach Gomez was Brookhaven's third starter in twin figures. He had 10 points, six boards, four assists and a steal. Anshuman Deora Singh had 11 points, six rebounds, a block and a steal.
The Bears outscored the Thunderducks, 42-30, in the second half, erasing a four-point deficit.
Richland, which went 10 of 18 at the line, was paced by Cjay Ingram's 13 points, eight rebounds and a steal. Barack Holland had 12 points on 4 of 5 three-point shooting, while grabbing four rebounds. Nehemiah Jones scored 10 points, and pulled down six boards.
Brookhaven, which has won its first two games to start 2025, plays at Dallas College Eastfield (4-14, 3-3) in a battle for sole possession of third place in the DAC 6 p.m. Wednesday.
