Brookhaven Hosts District Tournament Wednesday
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven's baseball team will host the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament single-elimination round games Wednesday.
Following Wednesday's two games, the tournament will move to a double-elimination format Thursday at Dallas College Eastfield. The championship is scheduled for 12 p.m. Saturday.
This is the second straight year the Bears will host the single-elimination round portion of the tournament.
Top-seeded Eastfield earned a single-elimination round bye, and will play the lowest remaining seed in the double-elimination round Thursday. Second-seeded Dallas College Richland also earned a single-elimination bye, and will play the highest remaining seed Thursday.
Third-seeded Brookhaven hosts sixth-seeded Dallas College Mountain View 10 a.m. Wednesday. Fourth-seeded Dallas College North Lake plays Dallas College Cedar Valley 1 p.m. Wednesday in the other single-elimination game. The Bears enter the postseason tournament after sweeping Eastfield in the final series of the season.
Eastfield won its fourth consecutive Dallas Athletic Conference regular season title. Eastfield has finished as the NJCAA Division III national runner-up the last three years.
Richland won last year's South Central District Tournament, earning an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division III World Series. Eastfield received an at-large bid to the national tournament.
This year's NJCAA Division III World Series is scheduled for May 24-29 at Falcon Park in Auburn, New York.
