Brookhaven Rallies to Beat Blazers for First DAC Series Win

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Brookhaven rallied for three runs in the 10th inning to beat host Dallas College North Lake, 9-7, in the rubber game of a three-game series Saturday.

It was the Bears' first Dallas Athletic Conference series victory of the season. Brookhaven (12-16, 3-6 DAC) won Games 2 and 3 in the series after North Lake (14-14, 6-3) prevailed in the first game.

The Bears scored five runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 6-2 lead. The Blazers scored once in both the sixth and seventh innings to pull within two before knotting it up with two runs in the bottom of the ninth. After scoring the three go-ahead runs in the top of the 10th, Brookhaven limited North Lake to a run in its final at-bat to seal the deal.

Brookhaven's Alex Rangel went 2-for-3 with a walk and a sacrifice. Hunter Pope cranked a pinch-hit, two-run home run. Landon Kerkmaz was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in and two walks. Caden Roeschen tripled, and drove in two runs in five plate appearances. Mason Gilliam was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks. George Sheppard was 1-for-3, and Bo Dinscore went 1-for-4 with two walks.

North Lake's Eric De Anda went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Noah Angus was 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a walk. Lincoln Skinner was 2-for-4 with four stolen bases and two walks. Ezekiel Rivera was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Blazers outhit the Bears, 11-9.

Bears reliever Travor Bane (2-0) earned his second consecutive win on the mound, working the ninth inning, allowing a hit, two unearned runs and a walk. Brett Rawlinson picked up the save, allowing an unearned run and a hit with no walks in the 10th.

North Lake's Daniel Coreas pitched 5.1 innings in relief, allowing a run, three hits and a walk, while fanning three.

Brookhaven plays The Complete Showcase Post Grad on the road 12 p.m. Monday before beginning a three-game DAC series with Dallas College Cedar Valley (17-11, 3-6) on the road Wednesday. North Lake (14-14, 6-3) plays Dallas Christian College Prospect Team 1 p.m. Monday on the road before beginning its three-game series with fourth-ranked Dallas College Richland (19-11, 6-3) at home Wednesday.
