Bio
Shane Shewmake was named athletic director at Dallas College Brookhaven on Aug. 18, 2025.
Shewmake served as the head baseball coach at the University of Texas at Dallas for 24 years after starting the program in 2001, going 650-370 overall, 319-182 in American Southwest Conference play. His teams won ASC titles in 2021 and 2022, following back-to-back 30-win seasons. The Comets also won the league championship in 2018. He won three ASC Coach of the Year honors in 2004, 2012 and 2017. His last team in 2025 went a program-best 32-6. His teams advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament four times in 2007, 2018, 2021 and 2022. The Comets qualified for the ASC Championship Tournament 20 times, advancing to nine title games.
He coached nine NCAA Division III All-Americans, 39 All-Region and 118 All-ASC selections. Six of his players were inducted into the UT Dallas Hall of Honor.
Shewmake helped guide the Comets into the transition to NCAA Division II.
Prior to UTD, he was an assistant coach at McMurry University for three years. He began his coaching career as the head coach at then-Eastfield College from 1993-97.
Shewmake played at Eastfield College before moving on to Hardin-Simmons University and Arkansas State University.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Arkansas State in 1992. He earned a master's degree from East Texas State University, now East Texas A&M University.
