Dallas College Brookhaven women's soccer team shut out Western Texas College, 4-0, to end August.
The Bears (2-0) peppered Western Texas College with 24 shots. Alexa Bezpalko scored two goals, and assisted on another as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III No. 1-ranked Brookhaven squad cracked 16 shots on goal.
Kaley Robison and Meleni Lorenzo each had a goal and an assist for the Bears, who led 3-0 at halftime. Isis Balderas, Gissell Solis each drew assists, as did goalkeeper Hayli Nichols.
Nichols, who logged 85 minutes between the posts before giving way to Elora Alexander, had seven saves in the combined shutout.
Bezpalko scored the match's first goal in the 14th minute on a setup from Solis. She struck again 11 minutes later when Robison connected with her to put Brookhaven ahead, 2-0. Bezpalko and Lorenzo found Robison on the third goal in the 35th minute. Lorenzo added a goal in the 77th minute when Nichols sent a pass to Balderas, who set up the final goal.
The Bears had 13 shots in the first half and 11 in the second. Brookhaven outshot WTC, 16-7, in shots on goal.
